Europe 20 Jun 14 Lake Garda

Day 15 Lake Garda. We left the mountain somewhat nervously after yesterday's experiences and headed straight down to Riva del Garda with the aim of driving down the side of the lake to our destination near Sirmione. We could have gone back the other way via the motorway, but thought that this route would be more scenic. It was, until we reached Riva del Garda, then the fun began. Narrow roads, heavy traffic, Italian drivers, cyclists, 30mph limit and then the biggest traffic jam in the world. Eventually, knackered, we arrived at San Francisco campsite and squeezed into this packed and noisy site. Settling in on our tiny pitch, we managed to get a bit of much-needed washing done. The Italians do like packing people in, but we were 20 yds from the Lake and it was good enough for us for the next few days.
