Norfolk 24 Feb - 3 Mar 16

There was a good deal on at Kelling Heath campsite so off we went, parked up and decided to have dinner in the bar at the site. It was good food, but it was very cold in there. On Thursday it was a nice day so we went for a walk to Sheringham, had a cream tea and then walked back - a mere 15km, but very pleasant.

On Friday we took to the bikes, following the trail to Salthouse (about 18km) and stopping for lunch at Cookies, which was/is a famous seafood shack on the North Norfolk Coast. Rather than being met by the soft burr of a friendly Norfolk accent we were greeted by the harsh Eastern European bark and curt orders of a stern (but pleasant enough) young lady who served us a reasonable prawn bisque. Cookies is not what it once was though.

On Saturday we had a walk to the beach (another 8km), bought crab and fresh bread in the excellent local shop in Weybourne, had crab sandwiches for lunch (yum), then sat in the bar and watched England beat Ireland in the 6 Nations.

Normal for Norfolk

On Sunday we relaxed, and on Monday we cycled into Holt for yet another cream tea (but not as good as the Sheringham one), stopping off at the local garden centre for a mooch around on the way back. Another 15km cycled!

On Tuesday we moved across to Clippesby Hall ready to take the van into the dealer on Weds to have the oven door hinge replaced, which duly happened. However, on the Wednesday night (which was cold), the electric failed on the heating (good job we had plenty of gas). It sounds like a fuse has gone, but with motorhomes there is always something to sort out. Oh well - another job for the dealer when the van is serviced.

On Thursday it was back home early ready for a dentist appointment, but of course the roads were snarled so we had to take a much longer cross country route and parked up in the tiny car park at the dentist in our whacking great motorhome. Improvise, adapt, overcome............
