Just a short, relaxing trip away to a small Motorhome and Cackyvan club site in Sutton-on-Sea, Lincolnshire, to get away from the noisy neighbours, yapping dogs and screaming motorbikes of home.
Sites in general were very busy as people were itching to escape restrictions. It was quite a task to find one with space, but we managed it and, accordingly, trundled across the flat fens through Boston, arriving at the site a couple of hours after leaving home. Despite it being very busy, we found a nice pitch that was out of the trees and therefore in line to catch any chance of sunshine at this time of year. Quickly setting up, we sat outside in the sun and chilled out before testing the new Remoska oven with a rather tasty Thai red curry.
On Friday we had a late start, enjoying the peace and quiet, before having a walk to the beach and along to the town centre, where we did a little bit of damage in the small sweet shop.
Saturday was a very busy day - we did bugger all except watch Quins lose to Bath in an absolutely appalling display of inept rugby.
On Sunday we did some serious relaxing then walked along the disused railway to Farmer Browns Ice Cream in Huttoft. Absolutely delicious ice cream - highly recommended!
The following day we cycled into Mablethorpe along the coast path. Mablethorpe - hmmm. There are some really attractive houses in Mablethorpe, but the place is ruined by the horrible tat of cheap seaside amusements and "eateries" and the clientele they attract. We didn't feel particularly Covid-safe here as people were more interested in cramming chips, vapes and burgers into their gobs rather than they were in maintaining social distancing. I recall Skegness being even worse; we didn't go there. However, the object of our excursion was to find a bottle of Dam Raider Gin, distilled in Mablethorpe. We eventually found the distillery, but it was closed due to Covid. We did call and they very kindly brought us out a bottle to buy and to have a quick chat with us. What lovely people - and what wonderful gin!
On Tuesday the sun shone, so once again we relaxed and just had a very short walk to the farm shop and tea rooms along the road. It was closed, but it was a nice walk anyway.
On Wednesday we packed up to go home, but detoured to the Huttoft Car Terrace where we parked by the beach and had a picnic on the sand in the warm sunshine, before driving to Farmer Brown's for another ice cream and then getting stuck in heavy traffic in Boston at school kicking out time.

In all, a nice, restful get away to a very quiet location. A great place to recharge the batteries.
