Rollesby 16-17 Nov 15

Back to the dealer for a few very minor snags, one of which was that the headlights don't flash. Turns out that Burstners don't have flashing headlights - how ridiculous!

Anyway, we had a day out in Great Yarmouth and vowed never to go back.

Norfolk can be a tad chilly in November

Cambridge 4 Nov 15

Just a quick night away locally, staying at Cherry Hinton Caravan Club site in Cambridge. Basically, we went to Cambridge to watch the Cambridge University Rugby Team play the Worcester A team. Not sure that we like the University Rugby club bar though. Too many people with a sense of their own importance to be a true Rugby club.

Checking out Quins new signing

This was the first time we tried the Karcher window cleaner thingy to clear the condensation from the windscreen. It worked really well.

Gravelines & Home 27-28 Oct 15

The last day and a quick stop in Bethune for a mooch around, then on to Gravelines, parked up and walked across to the supermarket for supplies. I'm not sure that we were meant to take the short cut across the massive lock gates, but we did and it was quite an adventure.

The next morning, in the pouring rain, we had time to pop into Calais Caravannes to see if the had any grey fridge vent covers (they didn't) but we did buy a new table. Then off to the tunnel and finding ourselves despairing at the huge fences and barren land created to keep the immigrants at bay.

Finally, we were on the train and homeward bound, stopping at the weighbridge en-route to check our weight (we were still under, despites boxes and boxes of wine).

Waterloo and Richebourg 26 Oct 15

Further into Belgium to a place I've wanted to visit for ages - Waterloo. Eventually we found the parking and eagerly set off to explore the museum, which was very much geared up towards Napoleon's story and very little about the allies that kicked his butt! Likewise, whatever possessed the Dutch to build a massive great grass boil on the battlefield to completely ruin the scenery and disrupt the lie of the battlefield. I know that there are few hills in Holland but they could have built their false ones in a more suitable place!!!

We then set off to Hougoumont farm which really is a very worthwhile place to visit. The restoration and audio visual displays are second to none and really set the scene to describe this important aspect of the battle.

After a jolly time we set off across the border into France and a funny little aire miles from anywhere in Richebourg, a small town that was bang smack on the front line in the first world war, where we enjoyed a couple of sundowners with some other touring Brits.

Han sur Lesse 25 Oct 15

Time to head for home. Stopping in Luxemburg to fill up with very cheap fuel we headed into Belgium and the aire at Han sur Lesse.

Never go back. We did. We went to the same restaurant as we visited last time and had to kick off big time as the service was so poor. We went to the same bar as last time, only to be told that there was no draught beer (no draught beer - in Belgium?????). Eventually we found a very friendly local just behind the aire where we enjoyed some great hospitality and decent beer.

Zell 23 Oct 15

We continued our drive along the Moselle, past some of the steepest vineyards commanding some of the highest priced wines. We stopped at one vigneron who, with somewhat untypical German humour, asked us if we wanted Blue Nun or Black Tower!

We thought that Zell looked a nice place to stop and we had heard the legend of the black cat (Zeller Schwarze Katz - According to legend, a black cat aggressively guarded a barrel of Zeller wine that was cellared alongside many other wine barrels. The locals and wine merchants presumed that the Zeller wine was special, and the story lived on). We spotted the Stellplatz just by the bridge overlooking the River. Reading the instruction board it was apparent that this stellplatz was owned and run by the campsite along the river and they had to be paid. As the parking was filling rapidly, we decided to walk to the campsite to pay. 2 miles later we found it, only to be told that somebody would appear that evening to collect the dosh and these instructions were clearly displayed on the board in English. Well madam, I have news for you. They are bloody well not displayed in English. Grrrr!

Anyway, we walked through the pleasant town and stopped at the local winemaker for a glass or two before heading back. En route we spotted an open garage door and people selling wine. Of course, we had to stop and try some.

Zell - great place once you sort the Stellplatz out.

Coc Up 1? Was it a mistake?

Trier 24 Oct 15

Leaving the Moselle we set off towards Trier. Funny place Trier. The Stellplatz is massive and quite a walk into the city centre. Around the corner are some, ahem, "gentlemen's" clubs, leading us to think that perhaps the area is not so good. We did, however, park up and bimbled around the city, particularly enjoying the cathedral and the wine stall in the market place, and really detesting the rip-off crap tourist train that trundles around and shows you nothing at all.

In the evening we enjoyed a fantastic meal in the Rathaus Celler. Absolutely delicious!

Nice area!

Going to be impressive when it's finished
