Camper UK, the company we purchased the latest van from, hold two weekends a year at their leisure park near Lincoln. We were invited to join their autumn open weekend and, accordingly, we set off on Thursday afternoon not knowing what to expect and a bit nervous about how the van would perform off-piste for nearly 4 days now the days are getting shorter and solar recharging is not as good. We made the 80 mile journey in good time and we very pleased with the fuel economy of this van. It may be a bit smaller and bit tight for movement space but the driving experience is miles better. 41.6mpg for this journey! Nearly as good as the car.
On Thursday night we went to the huge marquee for the Country and Western night. Most people had dressed for the occasion ( we didn't) and it was a fun night without too much slit-your-wrist country dirges. The cask ale at £3.50 a pint helped a lot too! Not sure I'll ever come to terms with the line dancing though. Reminds me too much of hours spent on the drill square turning and stamping.
On Friday we thought we would take the minibus laid on by Camper UK for people to travel into the showroom and/or Lincoln. We joined the massive queue and quite happily lined up and chatted for over an hour before deciding that we couldn't really be bothered to wait much longer and had lunch and another wander/chat around the site instead. In the evening it was back to the marquee for the Oktoberfest which was much more our style. It was a great evening!
On Saturday we finally got into Lincoln, being dropped off at the Museum of Lincolnshire life, which is housed in the old Barracks and contains a wide variety of items, including Daphne, a first world war tank. We will certainly come back here when we next come back to Lincoln for our servicing. After the museum, we had a quick wander around the very busy Cathedral area before heading for lunch in a recommended chip shop, which was very nice. Back to the campsite, we relaxed before heading into the marquee for the Halloween party and splendid hog roast, along with a great firework display and a raffle for some...er...interesting items. The headless man appeared very pleased when he won a pack of toilet rolls.

Sunday was cold and misty. It didn't take us long to pack up and head home.
In all, a great weekend. We would certainly do that one again.
