Cambridge Rugby were playing their first home friendly game against Colchester and Hertford on Saturday 15 Aug. The Camping club special deal of 17.50 for a grass, no electric, pitch was still in force, so we thought "why not?" and booked a weekend in Cambridge. The best laid plans and all that - the pitch at Cambridge was unfit to play on and so the games were moved to the Colchester all weather pitch. Doh! We decided that we wouldn't cancel the site and forego the Colchester game and just have a couple of days away.

Friday was really hot. We caught the Stagecoach No 7 Oven on wheels into town, did a bit of admin then sat in the super cold Town and Gown for a couple of pints of ice cold beer. From there we had dinner in Carluccio's. It wasn't particularly good and we wont be going back. After dinner, we found that the useless turds that run Stagecoach had cancelled their no 7 air fryer and there wouldn't be another heap, I mean bus, for another hour. We caught the park and ride and walked the last mile back to the site, writing a note of complaint to the ****** at stagecoach which, as usual, was ignored. They really are a bunch of tossers.
Friday night was boiling. It was a very uncomfortable night, albeit there were a few spots of rain in the early hours. As Saturday was much cooler, we decided to walk into Cambridge along the delightful Grantchester Grind, stopping off to survey the state of the pitch at the club and have a pint of cold cider at the Red Lion at Newnham. We then decided that we would sustain ourselves with the usual lukewarm cack in Wetherspoons before heading back on the No7 Air Fryer, which was running today.
