Mar 26 - Goodbye Lotti

Not the best start to the year with our planned motorhome travels. We had a Rugby trip away to La Rochelle and a couple of UK rugby trips to London and Nottingham, staying in hotels. When we finally  decided that we would get away in the van, the electrics that we had been nursing since last year decided to give up completely. Trips to Cambridge, Cheddar & Cirencester were, accordingly, cancelled and we had to arrange for a trip to Camper UK in Lincoln to get the thing sorted once and for all. On 16th March we took the van to Lincoln and left it with Camper UK, who replaced the control panel and all was well again. However.......... whilst at Lincoln we had our usual look around and, once again, we were attracted by the Malibu 640 campervan.  The problem was that is was quite expensive and, as our current van is 6 years old, we didn't think we'd get much in part exchange. We thought we'd ask the question and were quite surprised at the answer and, therefore, we had some serious thinking to do before we finally agreed that Lotti would go and we would take a risk and downsize (and up-quality) to a German campervan.

Up to Lincoln once again

Lotti has been a great van. It was all we wanted - fixed beds, comfortable, airy and had a huge garage. It has taken us on many great adventures and our only regret is that we never got to take her abroad. The only downside is that she is quite big and heavy and we are not getting any younger. We are finding on recent trips that we don't need to carry so much "stuff" and a smaller van may make trips out and driving a bit easier. It's going to be a challenge going down a size, but hopefully it will work for us. After all the years slating the noisy buggers, we are joining the the swoosh-bang brigade!
