This trip was a bit of a disaster. The plan was to spend the weekend of 18-22 Aug at the Western Motorhome Show in Malvern, a couple of nights in Knowbury, Shropshire, the Bank Holiday weekend at the Shrewsbury Folk Festival and then a tour of Anglesey and North Wales. The plan was great until Covid decided to put the kybosh on it!
On Thursday 18 Aug we trundled across to the Three Counties showground near Malvern for the Western Motorhome Show. As usual, there was heavy traffic around the M5, but we managed to take a crafty detour and weren't too badly delayed. Pitching up on the sloping Motorhome Fun area, we met up with our friends Anne and John for a few drinks before listening to some suicidal country and western music.

Stacking beer glasses is much better than listening to C&W dirges |
The weekend followed the usual format, with the usual show (not many motorhomes for sale and those that were on sale were ridiculously overpriced), crap music and a trip into Malvern and a walk up the hills.

On Monday 22 we packed up and drove to my sister's house in Knowbury, near Ludlow, for a couple of nights. It was going so well until Tuesday evening when I felt decidedly unwell. A test the following morning revealed that covid had struck (I blame the girl selling ice creams at the motorhome show - she looked very unwell). I felt pretty grotty for a couple of days and was confined to one end of the van. We cancelled Shrewsbury and, as my sister has a very large garden, we quarantined well out of range of anybody. Just as I felt slightly better, and despite our best efforts to keep apart, Debs tested positive. As a result, we decided to hold until we both had clear tests, which was around 5 Sep, spending our time lazing about, wandering around the garden and making friends with the horses in the field next door.

Finally allowed out we had a nice day in Ludlow, followed by a very interesting trip to Craven Arms and Stokesay Castle before packing up and heading for home on 7 Sep.

There are worse places to quarantine than Shropshire. As for the Western Motorhome Show, it was nice to meet up with friends, the Malverns are lovely but Warners are charging more and more for these shows and we don't really like C&W music.
